“Goods ordered and sent out same day with request for cheap delivery of 3-5 days but the ratchet straps arrived only 2 days later. From past experience the straps are very good construction and value for money. My only gripe would be that the dye comes off on hands when the straps are damp / wet. For future I could certainly utilise smaller than the minimum 4m length but would be loathed to cut down a 4m and have issues with warranty / holding down capability.”

“This is the first time we have traded with The Ratchet Shop and would recommend them unreservedly. As there are a plethora of very badly made ratchet straps out there, i used the 'chat' feature on the website to ask straight questions and got straight answers from two of the girls in the office. Though we only needed two 1" straps for a roof rack, that didn't seem to affect the length of time dedicated to our questions [as it was we eventually ordered two standard straps and two of the new Auto Retractable Straps]. i placed the order personally by telephone (as is our policy when trading with new companies) which wasn't a problem but would now happily purchase using the online facility [call me old fashioned but i like to know that i'm dealing with a human and not a robot]. The order was dealt with the same day and we received the Straps the following afternoon. Now the product review: 25mm x 4.5m Mini Ratchet straps with Hooks (800kg). These are good quality, robust metal work with well stitched strapping. The Y hooks are welded heavy duty 5mm bar that wont distort or bend as with the cheep versions - the straps would snap before these would give. There is very little, and wholly acceptable, play in the gearing. i personally haven't seen better quality in this size of strap and are perfect for use with a roof rack or small trailer. [net weight: 14oz] The Auto Retractable Ratchet Tie 25mm x 3.05m (600kg). Not having come across these before i was sceptical, putting them down as a gimmick. However one of the lady's on 'chat' sent me a link to a video online that impressed me enough to take a chance on buying two (they are considerably more expensive - though half the price of Halfords for the same product] Weighing in at a whopping 1lb 10oz net, they aren't a gimmick but very well made Ties with a similar metal work spec to the standard straps above but with welded, plastic coated, 8mm 'S' hooks. Again you'd be hard pushed to distort these. The straps are more liken to seat belt webbing than the standard version and therefore a tad more flexible. The body is also bulkier than the standard Ratchets having almost twice the physical height [ H 69mm x W 59mm L 150mm ]. My main concern with anything like this design would be the pressure placed on the internal retracting mechanism, however this isn't a problem as the 'retracting' mechanism is only used to rewind the webbing onto the spool - all the force of the load is put through the ratchet gear as with any standard Ratchet Strap. So why buy over and above a standard strap? well you wouldn't necessarily as both have their place, but the one thing that the Auto strap does do, is to totally eliminate any loose or dangling webbing - its all held on the spool, hence the larger size. Very clever and very handy when there's a gale blowing! [ever had a strap across your face in a force ten?] The retracting spring is permanently housed and works well. Compared to standard ratchet straps they are a doddle to use - if you can lift a toilet seat then you can work these no problem. The only possible negative that i can see is the plastic cap that houses the retracting spring. Not a problem for us, but if they were being used in a rough tough environment and being thrown around endlessly then the caps probably wouldn't last. A Metal housing would be preferable in this type of environment [ possibly something worth passing onto the manufacturer]. That being said, i wouldn't hesitate in buying more as and when we needed them. In conclusion i am very pleased with my purchases from The Ratchet Shop; the straps we bought are very good value for money and top quality products [in fact the rubbish we bought in a rush for a specific job on Amazon were more expensive and no-where near as good quality - now binned]. The staff at Ratchet Shop are first rate: pleasant and very helpful, and delivery is fast. Usual various delivery options are available [only having four straps the standard p+p was slightly cheaper than advertised. And as Ratchet Shop don't set UK postage rates i'll desist on commenting further!] A video section on site would be useful for passing customers - it worked for me! “I have ordered all my straps from the ratchet shop. As always a very good quality product has been delivered on time.10 straps in all. I only have to buy every couple of years usually because the straps get lost, pinched or the ratchets get run over!!! Excellent price. Don't think you can buy cheaper for the quality.”
